Here goes nothing! I've managed to get 30 BlazeWings up here to join the Dactyl dreadnought and the bases.
They've finally come for our worlds, starting uncomfortably close to our homeworld ... with seven dreadnoughts and no less than seventy-one cruisers! Now, remember the reports you've seen on the weapons those starships are carrying? So far, the reports on the three Tornado dreads - the latest Meklar design - have been top secret. Well, they're about to go public, everybody. Here's what we're up against:
Yeah, you'll notice the three racks of Omega-V Bombs on each of 71 Nexus cruisers. But see those Tornados? They've got combat speed of 4. And 9 Omega bombs apiece. Plus, there are enough Heavy Fusion Beams on this fleet, especially once the Devastators and their Warp Dissipator start slowing us down, to tear our repulsor dread to shreds. We'll fight them though! We'll fight them to the last bird, to the last hatchling! They can have our Toranor colony over our cold, dead...
...hoooooooo boy. I think they took me literally. They've just wiped out all eleven bases and (since I fought too long, foolishly and brazenly retreating the Dactyl too late) nearly its entire defensive fleet, all 400 factories, all 80 million Alkari ... the entire colony. And did I mention they have another dreadnought due at Xengara next year? It has some prebuilds it can finish off as BlazeWings, but we've used up nearly all our reserves; it can only get up to four missile bases.
Its neighbors will support it as best they can, but it's going to take a miracle. Got a good luck charm, anybody?
Yeah, the death fleet is on its way back to Proxima, whence it can strike out again anywhere in the galaxy ... but a Meklar colony ship is on its way down to Toranor already. And in the meantime, there's the little matter of the attack on Xengara....
