I hate interruptions. What is that siren blaring about anyway? Oh, another attack on Mentar? Fine. On-screen.
I see they brought their new Nemesis cruisers - a variation on their existing designs. With all the High-Energy Focus heavy weapons in that fleet, we can hardly avoid losing a couple of bases in this nebula - you can see the attrition from previous battles in our small remaining base count there, as I haven't bothered rebuilding any lately - but the Dactyl and remaining bases dismantle the enemy. I'm still impressed: In over a century of war, these Meklar ship designers still haven't turned out a complete dud yet! They don't have any more actual bombers in their fleet, but that's not actually a bad decision. They're not installed at Mentar yet since research just completed, but we've got new Class X ECM jammers that would completely disrupt the guidance systems of any bombs they tried to drop on us anyway. And that's the end of the line on this computer tree: From here on out, it's going to be a question of back-filling old low-to-mid-level combat electronics, starting with ECM 3.
That's not the exciting part though. The exciting tech developments are the ones we've been keeping top secret ... starting with the weapons system we completed just last year! For decades, our ever-vigilant Alkari prophets of doom have been moaning and warning and beating their breasts over Meklar shielding. Class XV planetaries! Lately, Class XIs on top of them! How can we ever, ever get through? Only the weapons of Orion and the Ancients could ever stand a chance to ... bla ... bla ... bla. Ladies and gentlebirds, I would like to introduce my newest friend.
This little piece of equipment is known as a Neutronium Bomb. If you can't figure out for yourself what it does to a mere 26 layers of shielding ... well, just wait and see! But wait, I hear the prophets cry! How can we ever get our bombs past their planetary missiles? (Um, they're still firing Hyper Vs; that's kind of easy.) How can we get around to their giant fleets? The Ajax cruisers even have repulsor beams!
Well. Two things: First of all, we've proven pretty conclusively that we can handle their stupid fleets. And second of all, there's another top-secret technology we've had in talon for years now, though I never mentioned it by name. Right after our Inter-Phased Drives came in, before we could start work on an Inertial Nullifier, our propulsion engineers came up with another fun new toy to play with.
The Blitz 8.0 is technically the least maneuverable armed starship we've ever built during my reign. Technically. Because the fact is, it doesn't need to maneuver. It teleports in through subspace, right above Meklar bases, and bombs them back into roughly the Cenozoic period. We're going to build a few of these now, okay?
And by a few, I mean, "As many as we can, from virtually every world, whether or not their infrastructure is even complete, emptying our massive reserves into production simultaneously."
Yeah, you knew that already. I figured you might.
